Support for children and young people

We can help you if you are a child or young person and feel unsafe at home, if someone close to you is hurting you, or if you are worried about the safety of a friend or family member.

We can help

Your safety is the priority at The Orange Door.

If you are in danger right now call Triple Zero (000). If you are not in immediate danger but feel unsafe contact The Orange Door.

We are here to help you if:

  • someone close to you is hurting you, controlling you or making you feel afraid
  • something bad is happening at home
  • you’re not getting what you need to be OK from your family or carer
  • you’re worried about the safety of someone you know, like a friend or family member.

Some people will tell you that home life is ‘private’ and ‘bad things’ will happen if you tell anyone.

We have experience in supporting children and young people. It doesn't matter what age you are, The Orange Door can help you and your family.

We can help you on your own or with your family members, depending on your situation.

If you are LGBTIQA+ we are here to support you.

We will:

  • welcome you
  • listen to you to understand your situation
  • ask what you would like to happen next
  • connect you to services that can help.

The Orange Door is a free service.
