The Orange Door is a free intake and assessment service for children, young people and adults who may be experiencing family violence, those who are using family violence and want to change their behaviour, and families who need extra support with the care, wellbeing and development of children and young people.
The Orange Door is an Australian-first model that brings together practitioners from specialist family violence, child and family, persons using violence, and Aboriginal services to provide an integrated response.
The Orange Door provides intake services to those in need including risk and needs assessment, safety planning, and crisis support, as well as connecting people to a broad range of services for ongoing support.
The Orange Door works with diverse communities across Victoria and welcomes practitioners of any age, culture, ethnicity, religion, ability, gender, sexuality or other background.
Practice leadership
Practice leadership is provided to the practitioners to support high quality and culturally safe service delivery through practice leadership roles such as:
- Team Leader
- Aboriginal Practice Leader
- Advanced Family Violence Practice Leader
- Integrated Practice Leader
- Children and Young People’s Practice Leader
- Advanced Family Violence (Men’s) Practice Leader
- Community Based Senior Child Protection Practitioners.
